Hello, I’m Michael Ochieng Odhiambo, an Avionics Technician with a strong foundation in aeronautical engineering, hands-on practical exposure, and a deep commitment to aviation safety and system reliability. My journey has been shaped by a passion for understanding how aircraft systems work — and more importantly, how they can be improved.
With a background in avionics maintenance, air navigation systems, and engineering concepts, I’m driven by solving real operational problems and contributing meaningfully to the aviation industry.
I specialize in:
Avionics systems and aircraft electrical fundamentals
Engineering projects that merge practical hardware with innovative thinking
System analysis, documentation, and safety-focused maintenance approaches
Modern aviation content creation and community engagement through Fly by Mike
My work sits at the intersection of hands-on technical skill, engineering creativity, and a vision for safer, smarter skies.
Experience gained at Westwind Aviation under the MRO, conducting routine checks, troubleshooting faults, installation of aircraft parts, and repair of components.
Experience gained at Kisumu International Airport under the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority, observing and participating in control tower operations, navigation systems, communication equipment, and safety procedures.
Designed and fabricated a functional system that measures aircraft weight using suspension settling, integrated with an MCP23008-based LCD and I²C module. The system supports accurate, efficient manual weighing sessions.
Trained and certified in critical aviation courses, including ADS-B systems, wiring and electrical systems, uAvionix installations, exhaust system maintenance, and required inspection items.
Founder of an aviation-centered brand that blends engineering, storytelling, education, and innovation — including aviation content, technical insights, and AI solutions such as Wingman AI.
Aviation has always driven my curiosity. Whether I’m building systems, studying avionics, or engaging with aviation communities, I’m motivated by the same goal:
to contribute to a safer, more efficient, and more connected aviation future.
This portfolio brings together my engineering work, practical experience, projects, and the creative side of my aviation journey.
